Bennett is a German-born real estate professional whose experience in Germany and Portugal spans multiple real estate market cycles and various geographies as well as real estate use types.

He studied Business Administration, International Business as well as Real Estate Finance and Investment in Germany and England. This helps him to understand the connections between the economics of different markets and their connections to the real estate market.

With his company RCP, Bennett helps prospective private as well as established professional investors to make real estate investments in Portugal.

Real Estate Bricks is the outlet used to spark and serve the interest of anyone interested in real estate investing in Portugal and enable the process by connecting to respective services.

Qualifications

He holds a bachelor’s degree and diploma in International Business as well as a Masters in Real Estate Finance and Investment from the University of Reading.

Bennett is a chartered member and Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). RICS is the world’s major institution to set, assess and promote professional and ethical standards in the field of real estate. In their daily work Bennett, RCP and the partnerships they enter are guided by these standards.

Professional Experience

He has 15 years of practical experience in the field of real estate, most of which in two of the leading global real estate consultancies, JLL (formerly Jones Lang LaSalle) and Savills. Bennetts career evolved in the areas of valuation, acquisition services and investment for single assets and real estate portfolios.

His experience in the areas of valuations and acquisition services helps him to understand the functionalities of transparent and opaque real estate markets and how these translate into values.

In the field of capital markets, and investment respectively, Bennett acquired an in-depth understanding of all aspects of transactions and how to balance them for all stakeholders.

Clients he worked with range from private individuals and family offices to banks and institutional investors.

Bennetts experience spans multiple real estate market cycles and various geographies as well as real estate use types.

In 2020 Bennett founded RCP, a company dedicated to initiate home equity release investments as well as providing individuals and businesses with real estate services along the entire investment process.

Transition to Portugal

Bennett started travelling to Portugal regularly in 2017 and consistently increased his time here until ultimately transitioning into staying permanently. Getting to know the Portuguese meant seeing the country, its people, its opportunities, but also its challenges with different eyes.

Working and living with the Portuguese Bennett enjoys most their communication capabilities saying that “In any area of life communication is key and I find the Portuguese set a great example and, at the same time, are outstandingly friendly and patient.”

Bennett is a member of the American Club of Lisbon and the Royal British Club of Portugal. Both institutions are dedicated to enriching social and business relations between the people of Portugal as well as other friendly nations, particularly the United States of America and the United Kingdom respectively.

Bennett lives in Príncipe Real near the parliament. In his free time he enjoys the cafés and restaurants of Lisbon with Portuguese and international friends and is a big fan of Portugal’s sweet pastry.
